On November 26, 2022, "V" magazine interviewed Irina Shek
Now, Irina's career has ushered in its 15th anniversary, and she is experiencing some kind of revival she calls; now as a name Lea The mother of five-year-old daughter, dominating the fashion show she dreamed of many years ago, is currently the new muse of Han Chong's ever-growing fashion company Self-Portrait. As the saying goes, "Win the game with steady action." Irina Shayk reminds us that perseverance and innate learning are everything.
Inez van Lamsweerde: Hello Irina! Are you OK?
Irina Shek: I'm fine. I just returned from London yesterday so I was a bit jet lag, but I was fine.
IVL: What happened in London?
IS: I was shooting for a magazine and then a campaign, so I was there for two days. Before that, I was in Spain.
IVL: Oh, yes, for [Steven] Meisel exhibition. How about it?
is: is so good. It was a three-room exhibition, all of which were photographs he took in 1993. So it's an exhibition [watch] and then dinner.
IVL: His work in 1993 is typical of New York, right? Where were you in 1993?
IS: I am six years old and in Russia. *Laugh* Actually, someone came over and asked me, 'Where is your picture? I was like ‘Well, no, I [93] six years old.
IVL: Wow. So, where were you in Russia when you were six?
IS: So my father is a coal miner and we live in a very small mine village. My mom actually worked as a music teacher in kindergarten for 25 years. So when the fancy girls shoot with Steven [Messel], I was there. *Laugh*
IVL:IVL: I like it, this is the beginning. I remember we talked about this a long time ago, but when did you start modeling?
IS: First of all, I went to music school for seven years because my mom was a pianist and she really wanted me to play the piano and love music, and then I went to college to study marketing. I have a sister who is two years older than me, and [one day] she said, ‘Let’s go to this beauty school’ just to learn how to pluck eyebrows and do something stupid. It's not like beauty schools in the United States or Europe. It's like a small room with all the [local] girls, and there's an modeling school in the same building next door . [One day], a scout went to a modeling school and he basically found me in a beauty school. I'm almost 20 years old and he asked me 'Do you want to go to Paris? I said yes, but I couldn't say a word of English [at that time].
