Watch idol Vacheron Constantin is no stranger to draw inspiration from archive books. As the oldest Swiss watch brand that has never ceased to operate, Vacheron Constantin has built an awesome catalog of beautifully made timepieces, most importantly the iconic 222, known as the “treasure” by collectors. Originally launched in 1977, the sporty digital is full of modern charm, and its integrated bracelet design underlines this. More than 45 years have passed and the spirit of this original version has been rekindled. Vacheron Constantin has launched a brand new 18-carat gold Les Historiques 222 timepiece, which somehow still looks as modern as ever.
As part of the Swiss brand Watches & Wonders 2022 display, the new Vacheron Constantin 222 adopts original design design elements and enhances it with exquisite details. With a 37mm diameter, the brand does not bow to the modern large dial design standards, but maintains a smaller proportion, which is in line with the retro aesthetic. But, despite the small case size, inside the new Les Historiques 222, everything is business.
This stunning retro timepiece is powered by the 2455/2 movement, a movement made in-house by Vacheron Constantin equipped with a rotor engraved with the original 222 logo, providing a 40-hour power reserve. Although it does not reach a world-class power reserve, the level of exquisiteness and stability of the movement is still world-class. Through the transparent sapphire crystal bottom cover, you will notice the oscillator playfully sweeping through the watch’s intricate parts.
new Les Historiques 222 is more sporty than other styles in the Vacheron Constantin catalogue, bringing a serious aesthetic impact. From the gold groove bezel to the gold dial, hour marker and iconic one-piece bracelet with hexagonal central links, the new Les Historiques 222 brings not all visual effects, and the experience it brings is unparalleled. This classic bracelet features a three-piece buckle for comfort, while the hands and hour markers are coated with Super-LumiNova luminous coating for greater readability.
Vacheron Constantin CEO Louis Ferla said: The Les Historiques 222 watch is not only an iconic logo, but also a wonderful tribute to the work of our designers and engineers, and an example of their ability to continue our brand's avant-garde spirit.
As for reissue, Vacheron Constantin's approach is one of the most impressive. When retro styles reappeared, the Swiss brand successfully created something that could make people feel the past, giving people endless thoughts.
