On November 20, the famous performing artist Xue Zhongrui died in Jinan, Shandong at the age of 85. Xue Zhongrui devoted his life to the art cause and created countless classic images. He was the great thinker "Confucius" in the drama "Common Confucius", and Soetu in the TV series " Kangxi Dynasty ". His radio drama "The Great Sword" and "The Angry Tide of Fishing Island" achieved a grand occasion.
After the death of this artist with both moral integrity and art, it attracted the attention of the entertainment industry. On November 22, actor Zhang Songwen posted a long article to recall the artist Xue Zhongrui in his impression, telling many past events when he and Xue Zhongrui filmed TV series, such as Xue Zhongrui's pursuit of excellence to interpret the characters and giving young Zhang Songwen a warm and encouragement. Zhang Songwen said that every time he touched the problem of performance, he would think of Teacher Xue Zhongrui and the seniors who helped him--"It's great to have you on the road of growth."

Zhang Songwen said that he had just seen the news of Teacher Xue Zhongrui’s death from the news, which was a bit unexpected and a little sad. Some people we have known really well, but there is no intersection or contact on weekdays, but you always remember him. Teacher Xue Zhongrui is like this for me.
Zhang Songwen recalled his relationship with Xue Zhongrui in filming in 2006:
I was in a TV series called " Empress Dowager Feng of the Northern Wei Dynasty " and played the personal eunuch next to the emperor. Although the role was very small, as long as the emperor had a play, I basically stood behind him. The play was not on me, but there were many scenes. Because I don’t have many lines, I always want to add some drama to myself, and because of this, I’m often dissuaded by the director to “have a big picture view”, which makes me a little frustrated. At that time, two senior teachers in the crew comforted me: one was teacher Wang Qingxiang , and the other was teacher Xue Zhongrui. When the crew started filming, I didn’t know who Teacher Xue Zhongrui was, and I didn’t know about his past works. If I remember correctly, he played Gao Yun at that time and didn’t have many scenes, we basically had no rival scenes. I really cared about him on the day when I didn’t have a shooting mission. During the break, I liked to watch the performances of other actors and colleagues on the spot. The director was happy to let me sit behind the monitor. When I was in a good mood, I would turn my head and talk to me about the topic of performance.
That day, the director saw Teacher Xue coming to the scene and said to me: This is a good actor. As soon as he finished speaking, Teacher Xue walked over and said that he would wait for the lines that there was a scene, and he wanted to modify and add. The director asked him to talk about the revision plan. Teacher Xue actually used the character emotions in front of the director and wrote the lines of the whole play. I can't remember the content of the lines at all. It was roughly a debate with other ministers in the palace. That day I witnessed the entire process of Teacher Xue Zhongrui's drama. Because it was a costume script and many ancient Chinese essays, we usually performed strictly according to the script lines and did not dare to make changes easily. However, Teacher Xue Zhongrui added a large section and made people unable to notice the difference from the original script at all, which touched me at that time.
I remember the director immediately agreed to the modification he made and said that this was good, which made some vague attitudes more firm. When Teacher Xue Zhongrui walked to the filming set, the director turned around and said to me: Have you seen it? What will the actors fight to the end? I said: Fight for culture. Director: Be more serious and love!

Zhang Songwen recalled his communication and interaction with Xue Zhongrui on the set. Xue Zhongrui helped Zhang Songwen find the character characteristics and encouraged him to get better slowly:
The scene of the shooting that day, Teacher Xue Zhongrui was wearing several layers of official uniforms inside and outside in the hot and airtight palace, performing smoothly and in one go. Gao Yun's voice echoed on the hall, making people feel like they were traveling back to that dynasty. Later I learned that in the popular "Kangxi Dynasty", he played Soetu.
Lunch time, I walked to Teacher Xue Zhongrui to ask him about some of his treatments on the performance just now. He was very modest and kept saying that it was nothing, just a little experience, not worth mentioning. I asked him: Do you have any suggestions for my role in performing? Teacher Xue definitely told the secret in one sentence: He asked me, why are there so many eunuchs in the palace, but you can only accompany the emperor from a young age to a young age? You have to figure this out. Also, what is the highest task of each scene? All the information should revolve around this highest task and serve it, and don’t disrupt the core that the audience should pay attention to...
Teacher Xue was particularly sad after saying this. I told him that the director often criticized me for always disturbing other people’s scenes on the spot. He laughed and said that he was the same when he was young. He wanted to do it well too much, so he did it too much and it would get better slowly. I am very grateful to him for giving me a warm encouragement.
There is another detail I will never forget. He sat on a folding chair he brought while resting. When he saw that I had no chair and squatted in front of him and chatted, he casually said: My waist is a bit bad, can you accompany me to sit on the steps next to me for a while?
