The World Architecture Festival (WAF), known as the "Oscar" in the architectural world, has entered its 12th edition this year. WAF is currently the world's largest architectural selection event, hosted by the British EMAP Group. Its awards not only recognize outstanding architectural works that have been completed, but also pay attention to outstanding projects that have not been completed.
In 2019, among all outstanding works of WAF, 534 projects from 70 countries were shortlisted, of which 95 were Chinese works. The shortlisted works are divided into three categories: built projects, architectural projects, and landscape projects. The final judging and awards will be held at Amsterdam, Netherlands, from December 4th to 6th this year.

Rural Landscape Design Finalist Project
01. Linfen Laohui River Ecological System Restoration and Planning Design
Location: Linfen, Shanxi
Laohui River Ecological Project Area has an east-west span of about 7.9km, a long, narrow north-south span of 2-4.5km. The north and south are short. The surrounding terrain is high and the valley is low, showing a trend of high in the east and low in the west. The Lao River, Hui River, and the confluence section of the two rivers run through the Lao Mi River ecological construction area from east to west; among them, Lao River and Mi River form a river after confluence from east to west to the South Tongpu Railway Bridge. Form the central platform, about 8,850 acres.

03. Brick Art Maze Garden
Location: Zhangjiakou, Hebei
" The brick wall is a complex three-meter-shaped maze with a continuous curved brick wall with a meandering diameter of 13 meters on the ground. The brick wall also adopts a curved shape in the vertical direction. In addition, the brickwork of the brick wall is also uneven, so it becomes a double maze of space and vision; the outer space of the three brick walls along the rounded edges is used for planting bamboo and turf The inner space is the venue for residents’ activities, and the relativity of traditional Chinese Yin and Yang is presented here in complexity.
04. Youdian Agricultural Ecological Park
Location: Changning, Yunnan
Youdian Agricultural Ecological Park is located on the north side of Changning County, covering an area of 1335 acres, consisting of a core area and an agricultural buffer zone. The park introduces two tributary water sources of the Youdian River, which are absorbed and purified by the farmland surface wetland and the functional undercurrent wetland to form a clean and stable lake area. The water quality is stored in the rainy season to enhance the flood safety of the main channel of the Youdian River. The core area is divided into wetland sightseeing area, lakeside recreation area, and traditional agricultural experience area.

09 Xi'an South Gate Garden
Location: Xi'an, Shaanxi
South Gate Gardens is located in Shaanxi Province, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, the venue was originally the campus. A small area of unattended green space by the south gate has undergone careful renovation and continuous design and maintenance. The originally inconspicuous place has evolved into a unique space for research, experiment and public activities, and is for activities of teachers, students and surrounding residents. Has an unprecedented impact. As an exploration of low-impact design, the transformed garden has the functions of rainwater garden and experimental field. The scientific research team is here to study the application of native plant communities in the urban built environment, to track the succession of plants for a long time, collect data, and regularly update and maintain seedlings.
10. Taichung Central Park
Location: Taichung, Taiwan, China
is located in the central park of Shuinan Smart City. It covers an area of 67 hectares. The design concept includes three narrow and innovative parks in the north and south. Tens of thousands of native plants, 10,000 square meters of solar photovoltaic version, using renewable energy, low-carbon self-sufficient power generation; the wisdom of building smart poles, smart street lights and central monitoring systems in the entire region; and large-capacity flood detention ponds , The first innovation that integrates twelve senses interactive facilities in a park. From the original deserted open space of the old Shuinan Airport, the Central Park has now planted 10,000 trees and cultivated ecological diversity in the wetland environment, which has attracted more than 20 species of birds to inhabit.
11. Yangpu Riverside Public Space Demonstration Section
Location: Shanghai, China
Yangpu Riverside Demonstration Section is the initiation section of Yangpu Riverside Public Space, which provides an important reference for the construction of Yangpu Riverside Public Space and the entire 45-kilometer Huangpu River through project. Due to the dense factories and units segregating the river bank, the architect, as a member of the citizens who have lived in the area for many years, has never approached the waterfront area in the Yangpu section. "Linjiang does not see the river" has been a problem of urban space in this area for the past 100 years. For the first time, he stepped into the site through numerous obstacles, standing on the old wharf, touching the anchor piles full of imprints, and looking at the Lujiazui Financial Center in the distance. The architect realizes that this will be an important transformation of the urban space, and it will also be a major opportunity for the city's century-old industrial culture.
12. Changchun Water Culture Ecological Park

z0 In 1980, the cultural imprint of Changchun City's water supply and the scarce ecological green space in the hinterland of 300,000 square meters. The ecological park takes ecological green space as the carrier, and takes the activation and regeneration of green space resources as the starting point. It organically integrates industrial relics and natural landscapes, and injects cultural, artistic, and fashionable creative elements to highlight the interaction between man and nature, and promote the improvement and change of lifestyles , And strive to become a new model of urban renewal and industrial heritage protection in China, and develop a regeneration model that is fully integrated with urban activities and industrial structure upgrading.
13. Greenland Annan Town Red Earth Site Park
Location: Nanchang, Jiangxi
is located next to Nanchang Greenland Annan Town. It is a natural park that integrates landscape, natural experience, ecological restoration, scientific knowledge, and relaxation. Everyone on the scene will be attracted by the magnificent red soil desert, the grass and the masson pine forest. Beneath the surface of the red soil is the geological structure of this red soil and the geological significance behind it. The qualitative name of this red soil is reticulated red soil, which is caused by the leaching and weathering products of ice during the Quaternary Glacial Period and the subsequent Poyang subglacial period. Its cross-section is characterized by red soil of different ages. The layers are mixed with worm-like red clay, so the reticulated red clay is also called worm-like red clay. Because the soil is sticky and compacted, it is difficult for precipitation in rainy season to seep. Surface runoff causes slope erosion and soil erosion. Over the years, a "red desert" landscape with sparse vegetation and ravines is often formed. Archaeologists also call it "wilderness sites".
15. Haikou Meishe River Fengxiang Park Landscape Design
