Kim Kidduk (Ki-duk Kim), was born on December 20, 1960 in Bonghua County, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korean director and screenwriter.
In 1993, he won the Best Screenplay Award from the Drama Education Association for his script "The Painter and the Death Row". In 1994, he won the Best Screenplay Award from the Korean Film Commission for his script "Double Exposure". In 1995, he won the Best Screenplay Award by the Korean Film Commission for his script "Illegal Crossing". In 1996, the first movie "Diary of a Crocodile Hidden Corpse" was filmed. In 2000, he launched his experimental work "The Truth" and established his own film company. In 2003, "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Another Spring" was released, which competed for the 2004 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. In February 2004, with "The Samaritan Girl", it went to the Berlin Film Festival for the third time. In September, he won the "Best Director Silver Lion Award" for the romance film "Empty Room".
