However, Dorgon ignored the persuasion and insisted on going to fight. It was this time that he died on the battlefield.
I have always had a question about Dorgon's death: Knowing that his physical condition is worrying, it is obvious that he is not necessarily the case. Why did Dorgon ask for a fight?
When I saw this scene many years ago, I thought Dorgon was for the sake of face and to prove that he was still a hero who stood up to the forefront. But now when looking at Dorgon's choice and his last move before his death, he found that he was determined to die.
There are three reasons:
1. For the sake of face and to win the breath, he can supervise the battle, and there is no need to go to fight in person to kill the enemy. He has become the regent and no longer has to do everything himself. Besides, there is not no one in the court, and the rebellion is not so difficult that he has to take action to resolve it.
That is to say, between danger and safety, he chose the former.
2. Before Dorgon went to war, facing Da Yuer's opposition, he once said this: "Yuer, have you ever had such thoughts in your mind? Maybe, if I die, all the problems will be solved."
savor this sentence carefully, and you will find that Dorgon at this time may have already had the plan to die. Otherwise, with his unyielding personality and pride, he would not have asked this sentence. It was neither necessary nor meaningless.
His question is not a temptation, but a farewell.
3. Before Dorgon died, he held the purse given to him by Da Yu'er. At that time, his expression was not painful, reluctant, unwilling, but only a smile and relief.
