Recently, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles jointly hosted an exhibition of outstanding stage art works celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. "The Deep Sea" is one of the works on display.
In early 1988, my country's first-generation nuclear submarine launched its first 300-meter extreme deep diving test in the vast South China Sea. Huang Xuhua decided to board the nuclear submarine to participate in the test. This drama uses nuclear submarine deep dive as the main line of narrative. It not only shows the scary dive scene, but also focuses on Huang Xuhua’s inner world. It traces back the ups and downs of the pioneer of Chinese nuclear submarine and the winner of Republic Medal. His life also depicts the deeply moving emotional world between him, his mother and his wife.
