The Education University of Hong Kong (The Education University of Hong Kong), referred to as EdUHK, is a teacher education-based university in Hong Kong. It is one of the eight public universities funded by the University Grants Committee and is 京Member of the Hong Kong University Alliance , Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance , Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Smart Campus Alliance, Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Cooperation Alliance, Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance, and East Asia Teacher Education International Alliance.

course introduction
EdD course includes 72 credits (cps) and usually requires 3 years of full-time and 4 years of part-time study to complete. Students are required to attend face-to-face courses on Saturdays, weekday evenings and occasionally during long holidays at approved venues (including but not limited to Tai Po Campus, Tseung Kwan O Learning Center, Kowloon Tong Satellite Learning Center, etc.). Depending on enrollment numbers, courses may be offered in a directed study mode. Different delivery methods, teaching and learning activities and assessment methods may be used where deemed appropriate.

Admission Requirements
Basic Requirements
1. Must hold a master's degree in an education discipline or in a cognate field related to their chosen professional field. ;
2. Applicants with more than four years of work experience are preferred.
Interviews will only be arranged for those who pass the preliminary selection.
English Language Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate a high standard of spoken and written English. Applicants with admission from non-English system institutions should generally meet one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:
IELTS 6.5 with no subtest below 6.0
TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test)

* College English Test (CET) is not accepted as equivalent.

tuition fee
The tuition fee for the 2022/23 academic year is HKD 5,000 per credit hour , that is: 72 credits of the EdD course is HKD 360,000. This is temporary and may be adjusted. The University reserves the right to change tuition fees without prior notice. Tuition fees paid are generally not refundable or transferable.
Students who must extend their studies beyond the normal hours (i.e. 3 years full-time, 4 years part-time) will be charged an extension fee.

Submit an application
Applicants can go to http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online / Submit your application online. The University does not accept paper applications. Before beginning the online application process, please carefully read the important instructions contained in "Online Application - Tour" at https://banner.eduhk.hk/BannerAdmission/index.jsp.
The application fees for local applicants and non-local applicants are HK$150 and HK$300 respectively. Unless the relevant course is canceled by the university, there is no refund or transfer. Upon successful application submission, applicants will receive application confirmation via email.
Documents to be submitted with the application
Applicants should upload transcripts, certificates, language test results, personal learning statements, research proposals, referee reports and others directly at http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/ certified documents. Applications will remain incomplete until we receive all necessary supporting materials. Due to system limitations, the maximum size of uploaded files is 25MB and the maximum size of each file is 4MB.
If the applicant is a current final year student on a degree or postgraduate course, please upload a copy of that year's results when available. If the applicant graduated from the Education University of Hong Kong in 1995 or later, there is no need to submit copies of academic transcripts and certificates obtained at the university. However, the applicant must authorize the university to extract and use his/her academic records at the university to process the application.
Applicants who hold degrees awarded by overseas universities may be required to provide an "Academic Evaluation Report" issued by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to support their application.
Applicants who have obtained a degree from a university in mainland China must provide a bachelor's/ master's degree certificate (Bachelor's/Master's degree certificate) and a bachelor's/master's diploma (Bachelor's/Master's diploma). In addition, an online verification report of the higher education qualification certificate (Electronic Registration Form for Academic Certificate of the Ministry of Education) issued by CHSI (Study Information Network) https://www.chsi.com.cn/xlcx/bgcx.jsp is also required.
Please do not send any original files to the University under any circumstances as the University will not be responsible for any incorrectly placed files. However, original documentation of the qualifications stated in the application must be presented for verification at the time of registration. Failure to do so will result in the application being disqualified and any offers being cancelled.
Applicants who have attended international universities and whose transcripts and/or certificates are in a language other than Chinese or English must submit those transcripts and/or certificates along with a certified English translation.
All supporting documents of unsuccessful applications will be destroyed at the end of the admission exercise.
Requirements for Personal Study Statement/Research Proposal
Applicants must submit
(i) a Personal Study Statement and (ii) a research proposal indicating their motivation/expectations for participating in the EdD program:
(i) 500 to 1,000 words A personal study statement describing the applicant's motivation for taking an EdD course in the proposed area of specialization and its potential contribution to the improvement of their knowledge and/or practice, and describing the specific professional input they can make to the program.
(ii) A *research proposal in academic form, no more than 4 pages in length, A4 per page (approximately 1,200 words), including:
A brief description of the research question, with reference to recent academic literature
A specific set of The research question
A brief description and rationale for the proposed method, including characteristics of the sampling and sampling procedures

Application status and admission results
Applicants will be informed by their personal Email to be notified of their application status, such as application confirmation, interview schedule, etc. No letters will be mailed to applicants except in very exceptional circumstances.
Successful applicants will receive personal notification by post/email. Applicants wishing to accept an offer of admission will be required to indicate their acceptance of an offer of admission directly through the online application system ( http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/). Applicants who are not admitted before the start of the course may be considered unsuccessful. No personal notification will be sent to unsuccessful or waitlisted applicants.
Transfer Credit
Transfer Credit may be awarded to students in recognition of their previous learning experience. Students can submit applications from the date of course registration until the first two weeks of each semester of each academic year. For courses offered during the summer semester (if any), applications should be submitted one week before the start of the semester. Late applications will only be considered if there is sufficient time (usually 4 weeks) to complete the application process before the end of the relevant course.
Cancellation of Specialization Areas
The University reserves the right to cancel any specialization area, in which case all fees paid will be refunded.
Cancellation of Courses
The University reserves the right to cancel any course. If a course is canceled, students will be allowed to choose other courses for which they are eligible.
Dual registration
Students attending any of the University's full-time award courses (lasting one year or more) should not be concurrently registered for another qualification at the University or for a junior college qualification at another University, unless prior approval has been obtained from the University. Breach of this rule may result in suspension of studies at the University. If you have questions, please consult the Graduate School.
Right to access and correct information
According to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, applicants have the right to access and correct the information contained in their application and to request a copy of such information. If applicants wish to do so, they may submit a written request to the Graduate School.
Non-local applicants
We welcome applications from both local and non-local applicants. Starting from the 2019/20 admissions group, in accordance with the Hong Kong SAR Government policy, a new definition of non-local students (NLS) has been adopted. You will be regarded as a non-local student for the purpose of entering this course if you hold one of the following documents issued by the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong SAR:
· Student visa/entry permit;
· or the "Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates" 》(IANG);
· or dependent visa/entry permit (when the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issues such visa/entry permit, you are 18 years of age or above.
When you submit When applying, you need to clearly indicate which document you hold for your studies. During the admission process, you may be asked to provide a copy of your passport/visa to support your application.If the documents produced do not match the local/non-resident status you entered on the application form, any offer made to you may be revoked and all fees paid will not be refunded. It is always your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid visa covering your period of study. If there are any changes to your accommodation conditions, you should inform the university by providing relevant supporting documents to [email protected] as soon as possible.
Non-local applicants are advised to apply as early as possible as it usually takes a considerable time (usually 6 to 8 weeks) for the Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department to process your visa application after receiving all required documents.
