According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to launch several new Macs in the next few months, including the new MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Mac Pro models. In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is continuing to develop the first Apple SiliconMac Pro, and the company is said to be stepping up testing of the device internally.
It is said that the chips of this high-end Mac desktop are equipped with at least twice or four times that of the M2 Max, and are called "M2 Ultra" and "M2 Extreme". Gurman expects the Mac Pro will offer options for 24 and 48 CPU cores and 76 and 152 graphics cores, as well as 256GB of memory.
Gurman also added specific information about a specific Mac Pro configuration that is being tested internally by Apple: a model with 24 CPU cores (including 16 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores), 76 graphics cores and 192GB of memory, which is said to be running macOS Ventura 13.3.
As expected, Gurman also revealed that the new 14 and 16-inch MacBookPro models will include M2 Pro and M2 Max configurations. The M2 Max will reportedly offer 12 CPU cores (8 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores) and 38 GPU cores, and will continue to be equipped with 64GB of memory. The M2 Max is expected to continue to be available for both display size models.
The next-generation Mac mini is said to have the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, which Apple has tested in the new Mac mini, characterized by an increased number of cores, but Gurman doesn't further state whether the company will continue to use the model.
Although the new Mac Pro is not expected to be launched until 2023, the next generation of MacBook Pro and Mac mini models will be announced "in the next few months".
