In the latest iOS 16.1 beta version, Apple has adjusted the design of Lingdong Island on iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, making it more obvious in a dark background. When using dark wallpaper or dark interfaces that activate dark mode, when the screen becomes dark or Lingdong Island is in active use, there will be a light gray border outside Lingdong Island.
On light-colored wallpapers whose outline is already visible, the border will not be displayed. When the iPhone unlocks or does not use the Lingdong Island, the border will disappear. If you play music or use an app that displays content in Lingdong Island, the border will be displayed again.
In iOS 16.0.2, there is a very blurry border around Lingdong Island, but iOS 16.1 beta makes it more obvious. It is unclear why Apple is making this change and what it ultimately adds to the Lingdong Island interface. For those who use dark backgrounds to make the Athletic Island better fit into the screens around it, the new outline doesn’t do much, but can instead be seen as a distraction.
