Ross Young wrote on Twitter that the Lingdong Island feature is expected to be expanded to non-Pro models of iPhones next year. Assuming that Apple still maintains a similar product lineup as this year, this will mean that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will support the Lingdong Island function at the same time as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
In addition, Ross Young also expects that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will not support LTPO screen or 120Hz display technology, which makes the iPhone 14 Pro support screen-off display and faster ProMotion feedback. The reason he gave was that "the supply chain cannot support it" because suppliers can only provide enough dedicated screen panels for the Pro and Pro Max models.
Therefore, if Ross Yang's prediction is accurate, it means that Lingdong Island will become the standard for all new iPhone models, and the notch screen design that previously started with iPhone X in 2017 will be completely "offlined".
It is worth mentioning that well-known Apple analyst Kuo Mingchi once reported that he expects Apple to further increase the differentiation between iPhone models through next year's iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. He also expects at least one iPhone 15 Pro to come with a new periscope lens.
