Astropad's Luna Display is a convenient way to turn an iPad or another Mac into a wireless external display for Apple computers. Now, the company has updated its wireless dongle to support Windows PC. This is a solid step forward for the company after Apple’s Sidecar built its functions into iPadOS and MacOS.
According to Astropad, Windows support is included in Luna Display 5.0 and requires "Windows 10 64-bit, Build 1809 or higher" and at least iPadOS 12.1. This means that modern Windows devices and iPads can work together in various configurations, including using Apple Pencil together with the iPad as a very expensive drawing tablet for Windows machines. Astropad first launched Luna Display in 2017. About two years ago, Apple added it to the sidecar feature "sherlock" in macOS Catalina. Soon after, in response to apple 's move, the company updated Luna Display to work wirelessly between Macs. "Apple twists and turns, we twists and turns," Astropad CEO Matt Lange wrote on Twitter at the time.
Astropad has always been quite open about its experience of being copied, including hinting that it was a blessing in disguise when it announced that it was testing the Windows support beta (other companies are more willing to take legal action). The Kickstarter of the new Luna Display for Windows dongle was launched on September 30, 2020.And successfully obtained funds after an hour. People obviously want this feature to work on Windows, and now Astropad finally provides it.
