A paid article by foreign technology media DigiTimes wrote that Apple is expected to update the MacBook Pro product line in the fourth quarter of this year, and is expected to further push up the market share of Mac devices. "According to industry sources, Apple MacBook sales are relatively stable compared to Wintel notebooks. Apple's notebook market share may reach a nearly five-year high with the new MacBook Pro series to be available in the fourth quarter."
No large-scale external changes are expected compared to the MacBookPro series equipped with M1 Pro and M1 Max. Apple’s previous redesign took place in 2016 when it launched a range of “Pro” portable Macs with the Touch Bar.
Later, the company announced new MacBook Pro models for 2021 that feature Apple Silicon, no Touch Bar, and introduced improved port variety for better compatibility, including the regression of MagSafe.
The new MacBook Pro models may be launched with Apple's M2 Pro and M2 Max. Despite earlier reports that Apple will use TSMC's 3nm process to mass produce new custom SoCs, the technology giant still has the potential to stick to the 5nm architecture. Even so, the M2 Pro and M2 Max should offer better performance, as the top chipsets are reported to offer up to 12-core and 38-core GPUs. By contrast, the M1 Max comes with a 10-core CPU and a 32-core CPU.
