Samsung is making a big push for foldable smartphones. When the original Galaxy Z Fold debuted a few years ago, not many people thought this day would come. But according to Samsung’s latest announcement, the company seems to be ready to make foldables. The phone replaces the Galaxy S series.
Samsung expects foldable phones to overtake Galaxy S phones in 2025 Sales of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flips combined will exceed sales of other high-end phones within three years, a Samsung executive said. According to the Korea Herald, foldable products will account for more than 50% of Samsung's total high-end smartphone shipments in 2025.
Samsung executives also said that foldable products will become the new standard for smartphones. This obviously means that in the future Samsung will have to make its foldable flagship better and more affordable in order to increase its adoption. Of course, the Galaxy Z Fold series is still the pinnacle of premium, but the Z Flip series caters to those looking for something more affordable.
To be honest, this is certainly an ambitious plan. It's hard to believe that Samsung is planning to make the Galaxy Z series the main focus instead of the Galaxy S series. As a Series S user, this is indeed surprising, but three years is still a lot of time and things can change dramatically.
