The complexity of life is enough to break up the system or pattern you think is impregnable, because the world around you is constantly changing. The Book of Changes says: Those who are good or bad, regretful and stingy are born and moved. The eighty-eight and sixty-four hexagrams have four basic states for a person’s situation: good luck, bad luck, regret, and stinginess.
good luck means blessings and gains; bad means disasters and losses; regret means anxiety and troubles; stinginess means adversity and hardship. The entire "Book of Changes" has built a logically rigorous state machine for us, as shown in the figure below:
Recently, I read an article on software engineering security in Alibaba, which talked about always considering unknown risks and doing a disaster recovery drill. He also gave an example of Bian Que's evaluation of his medical skills: his brother can prevent hidden dangers of disease, and he can only wait until the disease is revealed to treat it, so his medical skills are not superb.
However, the freshest and most refined theory is to learn from the human body when doing engineering, because this is the only self-consistent triple defense system.
Think carefully, the business or system we want to build seems to be summarized by these four states of life situation. Imagine the needs, design, development, testing and release of a project, which are all closed loops of good and bad luck.
Perhaps the ultimate method we can achieve high standards lies in how to understand the real operation of a business. We must go deep into every capillary and understand the essence of the transition between different states, rather than simply process switching and processing of physical objects.
