It is reported that there have been at least five vehicle battery fire accidents around the world, and two people have been injured by inhaling heavy smoke. General Motors stated that both accidents occurred near the completion of charging, and the specific cause of the accident is still under investigation. They also said that even if the vehicle is not charging, the 60kWh battery under the passenger seat may cause an accident.

General Motors said that it will provide software updates for dealers worldwide starting from November 17th. The update will limit battery power to 90%. Car owners should change their charging settings to Hilltop Reserve options and reduce car demand. Until GM investigates the cause of the accident and seeks a final solution.
