The new-generation X1 is built based on the FAAR platform architecture, with a new design and an iDrive 8 vehicle system. The new X1 series has three different power systems: a fuel version, a plug-in hybrid version, and a pure electric version (iX1). According to current news, the X1 will be officially launched overseas in the fourth quarter of 2022. This time, overseas media have photographed the new car on the road.
The front face of the new X1 still uses the double kidney grille design. Compared with the current X1 currently on sale, the size has further increased, almost becoming a square shape. The headlight set has a polygonal design, and the internal LED light source adopts a "double 7-shaped" structure. The matrix LED headlights are divided into 12 light zones, can be switched independently, and are equipped with steering assist and adaptive far and near beam functions. Combined with the "L" shaped air intake design on both sides, the front face looks more aggressive.
The new X1 also has an M sports package version. Different from ordinary models, the grille and some details are painted in black. The heat dissipation openings on both sides of the front apron are more sporty. It is equipped with large-sized dense-spoke wheels. The roof rack and side window decorative strips are black. The taillights are blackened. The rear apron is painted in bright black. It is also equipped with a small rear diffuser. The new BMW X1 comes standard with 17-inch wheels, xLine and M Sport models are equipped with 18-inch wheels, and car owners can also choose 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.
The overall size of the new X1 has increased compared to the old model. The body length has increased by 43mm to 4500mm, the width has increased by 23mm to 1845mm, and the height has increased by 43mm to 1642mm. The wheelbase and wheelbase have increased by 22mm and 31mm respectively. The wheelbase has reached 2692mm, and the drag coefficient is only 0.27cd. The overall interior style is significantly improved in terms of technology and luxury compared to the current X1. There is a wireless charging area for mobile phones and a water cup holder under the center console, and the shift lever is placed on the suspended console, making the overall layout more practical. The rear seats support 4/2/4 folding down, expanding the trunk space from 540L to 1600L, which is in line with the traditional practical style of German cars.
In terms of configuration, all X1 models are equipped with four USB-C interfaces, two 12V power sockets, and Bluetooth interfaces as standard. Users can choose a 205W Harman Kardon advanced sound system with 12 speakers and high-fidelity speakers. There is also an interior-facing camera inside the vehicle. Users can synchronize in-car photos to a bound mobile phone and check the internal conditions of the vehicle through the remote function of the My BMW app. Models equipped with the M Sport package are equipped with an M three-spoke sports steering wheel with shift paddles . The shift paddles can enable a function called "Sport Boost". The sDrive18i model is equipped with a 1.5T three-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 136 horsepower and a maximum torque of 230 N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration is 9.2 seconds. There are also two diesel engines , both of which are matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.In addition, the electric drive components of the plug-in hybrid model come from the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The motor provides power to the rear wheels. The maximum power of xDrive30e reaches 326 horsepower and the maximum power of xDrive25e is 245 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid version has a pure electric cruising range of up to 88 kilometers.
