Life has never been constant to me. I like different excitement every day and am willing to try all kinds of new things, just to be worthy of the young man who was so young when I recalled in my 80s. For me, driving has never been from point A to point B. I enjoyed the process more. I listened to the car's language with every inch of my body. In my eyes, it was not a cold machine, but my partner.
Just like this time, I was originally renting a car in Chengdu for a test drive, but suddenly I wanted to take a camping trip on a whim. I suddenly remembered that the base camp of the Jiashipai was in Chengdu, so I quickly called to ask if there was a campsite that I could recommend. By chance, they were doing an evaluation where they were more than ten minutes away from me, and the vehicle they were reviewing was actually the Dongfeng Peugeot 508L - all familiar friends know that I am the owner of the 508L. So I "scam" and took several teachers from the Jiashi School to start the camping trip with me.
As a former vehicle subjective evaluation engineer, out of professional habits, I couldn't help but compare the driving experience of these two cars during the journey. The conclusion was that the 508L was closer to (my) life than some in Asia - and this may be the deeper reason why I chose 508L instead of other models.
In comparison, I personally think that my 508L is much better than Asia in terms of power, chassis control, steering feel, or static texture.
508L has two different powers: 1.6T and
508L is finely adjusted, with the damping force just right, the entire steering force changes linearly with the angle, and the drop will not be very large. When swinging the direction with one hand, it will feel a little heavier, but when operating with both hands, it will feel just right. The force below 10kph will be much smaller than that in Asia, and a smaller steering wheel is easier for girls to control. Trust me, when you first hold this steering wheel, you will fall in love with it, and when you go back to other cars, you will feel like you are driving a truck.
It is worth mentioning that although the 508L is a B-class car that is nearly 4.9 meters, it will not feel like a big car when driving. On the contrary, it will feel very flexible because its turning radius is very small, about 5.4 meters. Most A-class cars are generally around 5.2 meters. For example, a car like Asia with a length of nearly 5 meters, the turning radius is basically around 5.9 meters. If it is a rear-wheel drive model, it can be made as small as an A-class car, because the front-wheel drive system issue can be ignored, but you must know that the 508L is a front-wheel drive car, and it still requires a certain amount of skill to be able to be so small. Never underestimate the 0.5-meter gap. In many cases, this gap determines whether one can pass or another.
So shorter body + smaller turning radius + small steering wheel + easy steering force = 508L mountain road driving experience is very easy.
When driving on mountain roads, the 508L feels easier than that of Asia. The 1.8T engine crushes Asia in terms of parameters. turbocharged 's broad torque platform can also allow it to drive at lower speeds, while also obtaining stronger power output. The Aixin 8AT gearbox is adjusted well, and you can basically choose the right gear smartly according to the slope. However, when lifting and lowering gear, you will feel a little power interrupted compared to the CVT. Fortunately, the gear shifting speed is relatively fast and it is quite easy to drive. In terms of control, it is obvious that the 508L is much better than Asia. After all, Asia is a car born for North America, which is destined to its long-distance cruise attributes, and in fact it is the same. The chassis of a certain Asia is very comfortable to adjust, and the impact is very well resolved. However, when driving on some wavy roads, the floating feeling will be more obvious, and the changes in the road cannot be felt from the steering wheel. The damping decays for a long time, and the overall suspension travel is relatively large, so you will feel like you are on a boat, which is similar to the original crown . Compared with the lower side, the 508L has a stronger road feeling, and the force feedback on the steering wheel is clearer, but it will be harder when driving on some rough and damaged roads. According to my summary, Asia is a tool attribute, while 508L is a driving control attribute.
In order to more deeply compare the control of the two vehicles, I simply did a pile-wrap test and a moose test. The pile distance around the pile is 18m, and the moose is a simple 3x3x3m width. The two cars run 3 times per project. The result gave me the feeling that
508L lingering speed can be stabilized at around 66kph, the steering is very sensitive, the small steering is really good, the yaw of the whole vehicle is built very quickly, the rear of the vehicle is well followed, the tilt size is also well controlled, and the pile passing test is very smooth and smooth, and the rhythm can be found faster. During the elk test, I barely managed to achieve around 76kph when I tried the third time. The faster response also caused 508L to almost no hysteresis when going from A to B, and there would be some pushing when going from B to C. In addition, ESCh is calibration is relatively conservative and cannot be completely closed. Basically, it will be pressed to the ground by ESC from A to B. The rhythm is easily disrupted, but the overall controllability is better and will not make me feel very panicked. If ESC can be more relaxed, I believe the speed will be higher.
To sum up, even if the 508L is out of control, it will show a head-pushing condition and will not cause serious tail-flipping. I think this is inseparable from its ESC calibration. Therefore, when driving on normal roads, both cars are relatively safe, and I believe that no one will shut down the ESC on the main road for emergency avoidance.
has a very popular word called " Inverse ". I think its existence is because it cares too much about other people's eyes, just like choosing a car. Listen to others, you must choose a reliable, large-space, and fuel-efficient car, but driving itself is a very self-interested thing. Is it satisfying others or yourself? Obviously I am the latter, so I chose 508L because there are some things and some things that I don’t do or choose when I was young, and I may never have a chance in my life.
