In the Mexican factory, which has undertaken part of the mass production operations of the 3 Series since 2019, it will also be responsible for the production operations of the second-generation 2 Series Coupe in 2021. Its performance version, M2 Coupe, is naturally on the same production line as the 2 Series Coupe. It is worth noting that M2 will also be BMW's last pure internal combustion engine engine performance work.
It is reported that in order to mass-produce the new generation of BMW M2, a total of 77 suppliers provide it with parts, of which 26 have also developed new components for this, including exhaust systems, fenders, side skirts, axles and headlights. In addition, BMW Mexico factory is the fourth factory to produce M Car, while the other three factories are Munich , Dingolfin, and Spartanburg factory located in Germany, known as the hometown of X series in the United States.
As BMW's last pure internal combustion engine performance vehicle, the new generation M2 is equipped with a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine code-named S58, and is equipped with an M Steptronic sporty eight-speed manual transmission with a maximum power of 338kW (460PS), a peak torque of 550N·m. The transmission system is matched with an M Steptronic 8-speed manual transmission, with an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h of 4.1 seconds. The overseas market also provides a 6-speed manual transmission version.
According to previous news, the new BMW M2 (inquiry on the lowest price | check the allocation) is planned to be launched in the global market in April 2023, and the target markets include China, Europe, North America, Japan, etc. Not long ago, BMW China officially presented us with some configuration information for the Chinese version of the model. For reference, the price of the previous-generation BMW M2 in the Chinese market is about 600,000-650,000 yuan, and the price of the new generation of models is expected to be close to that.
