The car can use fully autonomous driving functions in designated areas in Japan. However, the new car is only available in a limited edition of 100 vehicles for the Japanese market, and it is only rented and not sold.

It is reported that L3 level is also called conditional driving automation. It refers to technology that allows drivers to move behind the steering wheel under limited conditions, such as watching movies or using smartphones.

Honda engineer Mahito Shikama said: "We believe that L3 technology can help reduce accidents. This is essentially that cars (with L3 technology) will not collide."

Shikama did not disclose how long Honda will start mass-producing the above-mentioned L3 autonomous vehicles. However, according to the plan, Honda plans to achieve zero mortality rates for traffic accidents involving cars and motorcycles worldwide by 2050.
