[Original by Dongchedi Industry] Recently, Avanci (Automotive IoT Patent License Platform) announced on its official website that it has signed a patent license agreement with Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Renault and Stellantis Group.

Toyota, Honda and others have signed 4G communication patent license agreement

This means that all connected vehicles under the above-mentioned companies will obtain the 2G, 3G and 4G basic patent licenses for the Avanci Automobile Patent Project. Automakers can obtain patents for 2G, 3G and 4G technologies from companies such as Finland Nokia , Swedish Ericsson , and Acer in Taiwan, China for navigation systems and autonomous driving.

It is reported that there are currently 80 car brands joining Avanci. This model can allow automakers to avoid similar patent fee disputes between smartphone manufacturers such as Apple , Samsung , and telecom companies, which obtain licenses through one-to-one negotiations.

It is worth noting that in July this year, Avanci announced that the 4G license fee for licensees who joined after August 31, 2022 will be adjusted to US$20 per car. The adjustment does not affect existing licensees, and the fee per vehicle remains unchanged for the duration of their license agreement.
