Baojun, a generation of magic car brand.
- 510
- 730
- 310
was everywhere at one time, especially in the fourth- and fifth-tier cities and rural township markets. It can be said that Baojun can be seen at almost every intersection; it is no wonder that Baojun 510 can sell tens of thousands of vehicles every month in the best-selling stage, and 730 was once the highest-selling MPV, and even the small car 310 has a stage of being more popular than QQ.
even had to queue up to buy Baojun cars. Baojun was really in full swing at that time.
However, in the past two years, there was a sudden feeling that Baojun was about to be abandoned. Since the brand launched several "crowned jars" (station wagons) and pre-cooled them all, this feeling has become more intense; after Wuling Xingchen launched, this feeling has become extremely clear.
The hot-selling cars of the Baojun brand are gradually disappearing. 510 has experienced the blows of AMT (electrically controlled mechanical automatic transmission) and collision tests, and has gradually fallen from the top camp of the hot-selling cars to the bottom of the sales list. The remaining RS/RC series blindly improves their product positioning because they are not ready to rise. As a result, they are all unpopular. In the end, only Baojun 530 is still struggling to support it, but fortunately, there are still six or seven thousand units sold every month.
But this car has been discontinued, why is this happening?
to summarize and predict:
- Baojun 530 is discontinued production, Wuling StarChen launches
- Baojun 730 is still there, Wuling Jiachen launches
- Baojun 510 is unpopular, Wuling StarChi launches
Baojun has no other hot-selling fuel vehicles.
The suspension of Baojun 530 was actually after Xingchen launched. The positioning of the two cars completely coincided and they used the same powertrain. It can be said that the launch of Xingchen can only cause internal competition. During the sinking process of Baojun, Wuling is working hard to turn to the passenger car brand. Although the effect is not good, it is at least showing an upward state. This update shows that Baojun 530 is likely to become an abandoned child, and as expected, the car was indeed discontinued.
Baojun 730's previous sales can be summarized in three words: It's okay, but with the launch of Wuling Jiachen, this car only sold 5,777 units in the first eight months; the key point is that the sales decline in recent periods is very exaggerated, and the data in August is only 176 units. If this continues, it is probably not far from being discontinued.
And Jiachen's car overlaps with Baojun 730 in various ways. The relationship between the two is like Xingchen and Baojun 530, and the intention seems to be too obvious.
Baojun 510's sales are also very poor. No sales in the second quarter can reach triple digits, and rebounded in the third quarter, but the highest standard is 792 vehicles; the cumulative sales as of August were only 2,877 vehicles, and the results were worse than Baojun 730. So what would happen to Baojun 510 when Baojun 730 has to face Jiachen?
So SAIC-GM-Wuling launched Xingchi , which completely overlaps with Baojun 510; however, the configuration has been reduced, but the price has increased.
Except for the above three cars, the sales of the remaining RS-3/5/7 and RC-6 are so low that they are not worth mentioning, and there is no difference between them and the suspension of production; such a Baojun is really worrying! If SAIC-GM-Wuling still wants to reshape Baojun, what should be done now is to re-plan the product line, especially the new Baojun brand of . However, there is no action. All we can see is the new car that has appeared one after another, which overlaps with Baojun's new brand positioning.
Is Baojun really going to be given up?
Personally think this possibility is very high, because the old Baojun performs too poorly, and the new Baojun is not better at all; it seems that it is really difficult to reshape the brand image. At the same time, the Baojun brand has launched a new electric SUV that does not hang the Baojun logo, using the electric sedan KiWi logo.
Baojun brand's highest sales car is KiWi EV, which is a miniature electric sedan; however, its sales are not very high, with a score of 1,603 in August, but the electric car is a future trend after all, so it may work to reshape the brand through this technical route. However, SAIC-GM-Wuling does not intend to reshape Baojun anymore, otherwise the new car would not use the KiWi logo; such an operation is actually understandable. If KiWi is determined to be a brand new sub-brand, it will start from scratch, just like a piece of blank paper. In the later stage, it only needs to gradually enrich the product line, but reshaping Baojun requires first to fade away all the problems that have occurred before, which is almost impossible in the Internet era.
, so I feel this way. Maybe Baojun will be really given up. What do you think?
