China's car market is already ahead of overseas markets. It is better to enter the new energy era. As a luxury brand, Audi keeps pace with the times. In response to the rapid development of the Chinese market and consumer demand, it has not only successively launched a variety of new energy vehicle products, but also has taken root in China, build a factory in China to produce Audi new energy vehicles.

html On June 28, the groundbreaking ceremony of Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. was held in Changchun. Audi officially launched the local production project of pure electric models based on the PPE platform in the Chinese market.

The new production base is located in Changchun City. Construction has begun and is scheduled to be put into production at the end of 2024. This will be Audi's first factory in China that only produces pure electric models, with a planned annual output of more than 150,000 vehicles. All processes in the new factory will be intelligently interconnected through a new information technology architecture, and the "Mission: Zero" will be implemented to promote sustainable production.

The new factory covers an area of about 150 hectares. After completion, the area will exceed that of the Audi Neckarsulm factory. By the end of 2022, 20 buildings will be erected. A professional technical team from China and Germany will be stationed in the factory and will be responsible for building the entire value chain of automobile production and manufacturing. In addition to stamping, welding, painting and final assembly workshops, the factory will also be equipped with its own high-voltage battery assembly workshop, specially used for PPE platform models in the Chinese market. The project is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2024.

The new factory will have a high level of intelligent manufacturing, and all production processes will be integrated into a new information technology architecture. In addition to production areas such as stamping, welding, painting, and assembly workshops, the factory will also be equipped with a battery assembly workshop. The factory is built in accordance with green standards to help the Changchun region achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and promote sustainable production.

It is reported that Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. is also an important cornerstone of Audi China's new corporate strategy-Audi China Enterprising 2030 Strategy.

The new factory was chosen in Changchun not only because Changchun has complete infrastructure, but also as one of the largest automobile production places in China, Changchun is also the headquarters of Audi's long-term partner China FAW . Since 1988, the FAW-Volkswagen factory has been responsible for the production of Audi models in China, and a large number of high-quality suppliers have settled in Changchun. The mature industrial chain will also provide strong empowerment for Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. to take root.

After the new production base is completed, it will create about 3,000 new jobs in Changchun. The first batch of PPE platform models put into production will be the three models of the Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron series.

Audi predicts that by 2030, the proportion of new energy vehicles in China's high-end automobile market will exceed that of fuel vehicles. As Audi's largest single market in the world, the Chinese market has unique strategic significance and will play a key role in promoting the electrification transformation of the four-ring brand.
