Tesla will recall 870 Model X vehicles in China due to the risk of roof trim falling off - DayDayNews

"Tesla Model X"

Recall scope:

Part of the imported Model X vehicles from March 16, 2016 to July 31, 2016, a total of 870 vehicles.

Reason for the recall:

The vehicles within the scope of this recall use adhesive glue to install the front roof trim and the middle trim to the top of the vehicle. At the same time, a primer is needed to increase the adhesion between the two. Because the primer on the surface of the roof trim of some vehicles may be insufficient, the adhesion of the trim may be weakened over time, and the trim may fall off the vehicle in extreme cases. If the trim panel falls off the vehicle while driving, it will increase the risk of collision or injury to the rear vehicle on the road, especially the motorcycle, and pose a safety hazard.

Solution:

Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will inspect vehicles within the recalled area for free and implement a tensile test on the roof trim. If the test passes, it means that the primer is sufficient and no further action is required; if it fails The test will reinstall the roof trim to eliminate safety hazards.

Emergency measures: Before the vehicle is recalled for repair, the owner should drive the vehicle carefully, and contact the service center as soon as possible after the recall begins.
