As a new French-style high-quality sedan, Dongfeng Peugeot New 408’s body materials account for more than 70% of high-strength steel and more than 86% of double-sided galvanized metal materials. A large number of key stress-bearing parts such as the front pillars, center pillars, and door anti-collision beams use ultra-high-strength hot-stamped steel plates up to 1500MPa. The front doors are equipped with front-impact anti-collision bars (roller forming), and the tensile strength of reaches more than 1180MPa.
In terms of body technology, many structures of the new 408 body adopt integrated stamping molding process, which effectively improves the strength of the body and ensures driving safety; the new 408 uses laser welding, cold arc welding and other technologies to create a solid body structure, and has more than 4,000 high-strength and high-density welding points; nearly 9 meters of laser welds improve the appearance of the vehicle, and 33 new structural adhesives effectively strengthen the body, while also making the body better sealed and soundproofed.

In terms of body structure, the new 408 adopts a cabin-type safety body structure and uses a closed-loop reinforced structure to cast a more stable body. In addition, the new 408 also adopts a six-horizontal and six-vertical integrated reinforced floor. Six reinforced beams are designed for front collisions to disperse the impact energy rearward and sideways. Different from ordinary models, the new 408 is also designed with six reinforced beams for side impacts, ensuring the safety of the occupants in side impacts to the greatest extent.
In terms of anti-corrosion protection, Dongfeng Peugeot’s new 408 body adopts dual protection of galvanized sheet + overall electrophoretic paint, which is higher than the anti-corrosion capability of electrophoretic paint of the same level in China.

Not long ago, the new 408 passed the rigorous test of China Automotive Research and Development Corporation's Child First (Green Cockpit) certification, passing high scores in the three dimensions of "high-quality air in the car", "infant-grade materials" and " electromagnetic radiation safety", becoming the first 100,000-class family sedan to pass the Child First (green cockpit) certification.
Taking the cabin air as an example, all new 408 series are equipped with healthy and environmentally friendly acoustic absorbing sound insulation materials as standard, abandoning the use of waste fibers in traditional cars, and 11 types of sound insulation parts are all made of green and environmentally friendly materials. Not only that, the new 408 also uses a large amount of skin-friendly leather materials with low odor and low VOC characteristics, and gives priority to the use of environmentally friendly water-based glue and hot melt glue in the use of glue to control and reduce the use of solvent-based glue. When connecting parts, try to use clamping, welding and other processes to reduce the bonding process, eliminate the pollution of harmful substances from the source, and achieve healthy driving.
