In fact, in August last year, the same unofficial order serial number statistics showed that the order volume of Cybertruck had reached 1.2 million vehicles, which means that about 300,000 orders were pouring in in 15 months. Although this is unofficial statistics and choosing to unsubscribe after placing a order cannot be counted as it is, it can still accumulate orders quickly after years of release, which is still enough to show the super popularity of Cybertruck.
Of course, even if Cybertruck really accumulates orders of 1.5 million vehicles, it is impossible to convert all into valid customers. After all, if you place a Cybertruck, you only need to pay US$100 in advance, and you can get a full refund at any time. Previously, Sawyer Merritt, a well-known foreign internet celebrity, predicted that the order conversion rate of Cybertruck should be around 50-60%. If this prediction is accurate, it will be a huge burden for the Texas factory that mainly produces Cybertruck, and it will take several years to digest it.
The Cybertruck, which is expected to start production in mid-2023, has been confirmed to use steel of the same level as Space X Starship to build the body. The initial target capacity is still unclear, but a previous report by Reuters pointed out that the Cybertruck may enter the stage of mass production by the end of 2023. The time from initial production to mass production may be shorter than other Tesla models.
