This is not pretending to be humble. Buddhism is like this. It covers the universe and life, very lofty and profound, but the lofty and profound truths are often ordinary and humble. When it is completely used in life by us, it becomes It's very ordinary, it's nothing more than "

curling and squirming on the sky and under the ground, flowers, birds, fish and insects all have their own rules of growth, survival and activity. Just like bamboo trees, they always want to grow in the sky; when spring comes, they have to pick tea leaves, and the best buds of spring are the best, and it will be not good after spring to summer. This is the law of nature. Without rules and rules, nothing in the world can be discussed.

eat when you are hungry and drink tea when you are thirsty. In today's society, some people have tried their best to seek far away. If you are worried about yesterday's events and worry about future events. Why not listen to what Elder Ischein said...

Eat during the day and fall asleep at night

In October 1995, I discussed Buddhism with Zen Master Pudu, and remembered that I said a few words in my letter: "I don't practice, I don't know Doing Taoism; you can’t do Zen, and you don’t know enlightenment; you eat during the day and fall asleep at night. "This is not pretending to be humble. Buddhism is like this. It covers the universe and life, very lofty and profound, but the lofty and profound truths are profound. Often, ordinary and humble. When it is completely used in life by us, it becomes very ordinary, nothing more than "eating during the day and falling asleep at night". Some people have tried their best to seek out such ordinary truths as

. There was a very famous Zen master in the Tang Dynasty , named Daolin, but everyone called him Zen Master Niaoke, because when he was practicing in Hangzhou, he always sat cross-legged on a pine tree and meditated like a bird building a nest. Therefore, He got the name. This Zen Master Niaoke once worked as a waiter of Zen Master Taoguang in Shaanxi, and he has been doing it for several years. After being a waiter for a long time, he became a little tired and felt that he would not learn anything if he continued like this, so he said goodbye to Zen Master Taoguang. Zen Master Taoguang asked him why he left. Zen Master Niaoke said, "I have been your attendant for so long, and you have never given me any teachings. I want to go to other places to study." Zen Master Taoguang said, "You Do you want to listen to me in teaching Buddhism? I have it here too if I want to talk about Buddhism." After saying that, he picked up a hair and blew it gently. Now, Zen Master Niaoke immediately became enlightened.

Don’t think that your master is just asking you to do odd jobs. If you are really determined, you will work hard on your own heart and you will also be able to understand the truth when doing odd jobs.

3 Always in your heart, don't always pick on the outer mirror

Before, in the temple, a disciple also said goodbye to me and said he wanted to go to other places to study. I told him that if I wanted to study, it would be very good here, and then told him about this story about Zen Master Niaoke, but he couldn't listen and insisted on leaving. I said to him, "You look down on others."

Originally, it is not impossible to let the disciples go to other places to enrich themselves. So why did the monk keep him? It’s not that my Buddhism is more sophisticated than other places, and my master here is more profound than other places, but that I hope he can learn to stay calm, learn to look inward, and learn to study profound principles from ordinary things. . This is what I expect from that disciple.

After all, participating in learning is your own business. Always picky in external environments, you will lose a lot of time to practice the inner soul. What's more, understanding the Buddhist principles in all current situations is the attitude and actions you should have when practicing. It’s not just about practicing, but about doing a lot of things. You must complete this step under your feet and talk about other things. Nowadays, there are many people who always find faults when doing things, and they can't sink. They always look at the distance and the future, and do not know how to grasp the things that are now. This is a big problem. I always think in my heart, "One day I will do anything," but I refuse to do what I am doing right now. How can the future be as you wish?

There was a Zen master who had a dream during the day and asked his disciples to interpret the dream. One of the disciples just fetched a basin of water to wash the master's face, and the other disciple made a cup of tea and handed it to the master. Therefore, the Zen master treated these two A disciple highly appreciated it.Why? No matter how exciting the things you experience in a dream are, they are just a dream. What does it have to do with reality? It is normal life to wash your face after waking up and drink tea after washing your face. These two disciples can be said to have understood the true meaning of Buddhism.

Live in the present, do what you can

Zen Master Shiwu said in a verse: "The past is gone, and there is no need to predict the future; just now the way is the current sentence, plum when ripe gardenia is fragrant." In the past, present, and future, these three seem to be closely related and we need our care. But if you think about it carefully, you will find that this kind of care is meaningless. When the plum on the branch is not ripe, what do you do to turn it from green to green? The gardenia under the window has no buds, so what can you do to make it flowers all over the branches? Do whatever you should do, eat when you are hungry, drink tea when you are thirsty, and don’t worry about yesterday’s things, nor worry about future things. Only by living in the present and doing what you can do can you live easily and truly.

Eat during the day and fall asleep at night. This is the attitude of living in the present. When eating, there is no sorrow in your heart; when sleeping, there is no thought in your heart. Do anything, devote yourself to it, and do not worry about the extra details, gains, losses, right and wrong. When trouble comes, you can also face it, deal with it, let it go, and not keep it in your heart. Stay at every moment, live out every moment with meaning, focus on what you are doing now, where you are now, the people around you at this moment, accept, taste, devote and experience all this with all your heart, without being dragged in the past There is no time to worry or worry about irrelevant things when the future pulls us forward. Only when we are not entangled, anxious, or complaining can we eat well and sleep well.

How to understand the word "attachment"

Buddhism is a religion that was born. If Buddhism is said to "teach people how to escape pain and is a negative attitude towards life", it is a completely misunderstanding of Buddhism. Buddhism’s attitude towards life is very wise and positive. Being born is not opposite to the world, but people need to do things that are worldly and enter the world with a worldly heart. The so-called birth of the world is to let go of one's attachment to oneself and experience the state of enlightenment.

In an interview, the monk said this, and the other party asked: "But there is no smooth sailing in the world? If you don't have a persistence, you may not be able to do anything. Recently I read a report saying that the movie "Lu Xun" has been from It has been fifty years since the filming of filming, and the lack of funds is a big factor. It is precisely with the filmmaker's indomitable spirit and this persistence that it can be invested in today. If you encounter difficulties, you will be affected. Frustration, give up when you have troubles, then we may still live the lives of the ancients now."

In fact, this is everyone's different understanding of the meaning of the word "attachment". The attachment in Buddhism means that you are trapped in troubles and cannot The attachment to extricate oneself and being trapped by troubles. Some people encounter some difficulties and troubles, and they think that since Buddhism says not to be attached, then I don’t know that there is a tiger in the mountain, but I tend to go to the tiger mountain, so I give up and stop doing it. He thinks this is in line with Buddhism’s non-attachment. In fact, this is wrong, and it can be said that it is completely different. What Buddhism says is that you should not be attached to the troubles arising from human affairs, rather than asking you to give up on your firm belief in doing things. Buddhism is the mind method, and what it always requires people to let go of is their inner one-sided attachment to bad mentality and emotions.

stick to doing things, not to worry

Be obsessed with doing things, not to worry. . Baizhang Zen Master . There is a case: Baizhang Zen Master is in his eighties and is still very diligent in his work. The public can't bear it, so they hide the tools of his labor. So Zen Master Baizhang did not pass the class or eat for three days. He said, "I don't do it for a day, and I don't eat for a day."You see, this kind of attachment is good. What is the attachment of many people? It is to be attached to troubles, entangled in gains and losses, and cannot let go of it.

What Buddhism says about not being attached is also reflected in practice. Method. Although practicing requires a moment of attachment to not relax or give up, practice also requires unintentional hard work. To study without intention means not having the idea of "working hard", but to treat it as a spontaneous habit. As a part of life, you can naturally step on the point of hard work in your words and deeds. What does it mean? It means that we should not turn our hard work into a slogan. We must motivate ourselves to do it. For practitioners, hard work is daily life. It doesn’t take effort to listen to the silent words of life with your heart and understand the subtle Zen strategy? Everything in life is an opportunity for practice. Maintaining a true heart, high when encountering mountains and low when encountering water. Follow nature, the truth is. So why does the Buddha always emphasize the present? Because every moment is very important. Letting go of the present is equivalent to letting go of the future; wasting the present time is equivalent to wasting more and better possibilities in the future.

If you can let go of it now, then you will eliminate worries at the moment

What is the point of living a good life? It means doing what you should do every moment, not occupying worries or bad emotions, and not wasting your wrong attachments. A precious time. Simply put, it is to live a more authentic and natural life. Stop the pace of scheming and pursuing fame and fortune, get used to walking leisurely, and enjoy the most original and original things in nature with a simple and free attitude, see beauty from every flower and plant, and hear time from every breeze The low sing of the silence of life returns to the simplicity of nature and transcends the troubles of reality. When we look at those who have attained enlightenment who are beyond the world, they are not immortal spirits that are not in the world, but natural sons who take the sky as the cover and the earth as the mat.

There is an old monk who lives in the mountains and lives on wild fruits. Someone asked him why he ate wild fruits, and he replied: "How much better can the delicacies of mountains and seas be than wild fruits?" Someone asked him why he didn't comb his hair, and he said: "I don't even have troubles, so what hair do I need to comb. ? "What is trouble? It is actually our imagination and comes from our hearts. Only when we care about past experiences, distinguish current situations, and worry about future experiences will troubles come to us. If you let go of it now, then you will eliminate your worries at the moment.

Glory, fame, praise, love and hate entanglement, people are fighting and chasing for these things at all times, either sad or happy, and there is no moment of peace in their hearts. When doing things, you don’t focus on doing things, but think about how much reward you can get, and care about success or failure; when you get along with others, you cannot enjoy the peace of your friends, but you have to calculate the material benefits and emotional gains and losses. If you live too deliberately and have too many thoughts, your worries will be endless. Instead of living in troubles all the time, it is better to be clear at this moment, think about nothing, care about anything, just live simply and do everything well.
