1. Image Art Observation: When did you start photography?
Yang Rong: I started to come into contact with photography earlier, probably in 1984. That year, I was in junior high school. I established the Photographers Association, which is the predecessor of the Photographers Association. My father served as the deputy secretary-general and was responsible for some organizational work of the association. Since then, during the holidays, I basically followed the photographers into factories and mines and the countryside during the day, watching them filming and creating, listening to their ideas and exchanges, and would soak in the darkroom of my father's unit all night, smelling the smell of the developer fixing solution, and watching photos gradually appear on the photo paper. At this time, I happened to learn "Xiaokong Imaging" in physics class. I wanted to figure out how the photos came about, so I carefully studied all the photography-related books, newspapers, and magazines at home, and then I spent all the photography books I could see in Datong Bookstore, library and other places. It was not until I thought I knew the basic knowledge of photography that I dared to secretly pick up my father's camera and play with it for a while, or take a few photos.
By 1989, the first work "Almond Song" was adopted by the back cover of " Middle School Students " magazine. After that, several works were adopted by Datong Newspaper. In the same year, he joined the Datong Photographers Association and became the youngest member at that time. As a result, my interest in photography was completely stimulated. I accompanied the photography creation and Photographers Association since then. I joined the Shanxi Photographers Association and the China Photographers Association. I was awarded the title of "Shanxi Workers' Art Backbone" by the Provincial Department of Culture and the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions.

2. Video Art Observation: Let me introduce your hometown
Yang Rong: I grew up in Datong, this is a city with more than 2,300 years of establishment history and more than 1,700 years of urban development history. It was once a famous county in the Han Dynasty, a Beijing-China county in the Northern Wei Dynasty, a capital of Liao and Jin dynasties, and a major city in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It currently has 627 national key cultural relics protection units, and 652 provincial key cultural relics protection units. Yungang Grottoes is the largest existing grotto group in my country, and is designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO ; the upper Huayan Temple Main Hall has a magnificent building area of and the tall chess on the roof of the hall, which is the highest among Buddhist temples in the country; the lower Huayan Temple Tiangong Tower sculpture art can be called the "orphans in the country" in the Liao and Jin dynasties; Shanhua Temple is the most complete Liaojin temple in my country; Jiulong Wall is the earliest, largest and best preserved dragon wall in my country; the Hanging Temple is the only one in my country High-altitude cliff buildings are also rare temples in my country where Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism combine one ; Yan Pagoda is an octagonal seven-level hollow brick watchtower on the city wall with rare architectural locations in China...
Datong's bronze ware, yellow flower , fur, Astragalus , etc. are all famous local specialties; Datong's drama "playing with kids", " Luoluo ", and dyed paper cutting of Guangling are all national intangible cultural heritages. The magnificent ancient capital culture, the majestic military culture, the exquisite and profound religious culture, the world-renowned Great Wall culture, the prosperous border trade culture, the colorful fusion culture, and the rich coal culture are all very good shooting themes, and makes photographers yearn for infinitely. Every year, I accompany film friends from all over the country to Datong, explore Datong, shoot Datong, and promote Datong.

3. Video Art Observation: What subject works do you mainly shoot?
Yang Rong: I perfectly integrate work and hobbies.Due to work relations, I often participate in organizing and planning various employee cultural activities, and come into contact with a large number of literary and artistic performances from grassroots front-line or national professional troupes. I basically have to go to the scene for every performance in Datong. Therefore, my main theme of shooting in recent years is stage photography, which recreates the work of employees and art workers who are active on the stage for many years, shoots a large number of works, has published hundreds of works and won awards, and has published a collection of personal photography works "Big Stage".

4. Video Art Observation: What else do you like to do besides photography creation?
Yang Rong: Since the epidemic, photographers have been greatly restricted and influenced in going out for field trips, creation and communication. Now is an era of national photography and reading pictures at any time. When I was forced to reduce photography creation, a large part of my energy and time are currently spent on teaching and helping and cultivating new photographers. Every year, I go to factories, mining units, community schools, etc. to give lectures on popular photography knowledge, and at the same time I use holidays and spare time to help college entrance examination art candidates. Many children have been admitted to photography-related majors in colleges and universities, and some have completed their studies and started working and become professional photographers. As a visiting professor of at Datong University and Datong Teachers College, I also teach photography knowledge to young students every year. I am most pleased and proud of my students, and even happier than taking a good work myself.

5. Image Art Observation: Tell me what activities you have mainly carried out in the local association in the past five years
Yang Rong: I served as the vice chairman of the Datong Photographers Association in 2013, and served as the secretary-general in 2017. I am responsible for the organization of the association and changed to the executive vice chairman in 2020. In the past five years, in addition to completing the photography exhibitions and competitions arranged by the superiors with quality and quantity, I have also planned and organized the Municipal Association Member Exhibition and the photography exhibitions of the county and districts such as Yunzhou District, Lingqiu County, Tianzhen County, Tianzhen County, and Tianzhen County, and exhibitions such as exhibitions such as exhibitions such as exhibitions such as exhibitions such as exhibitions such as exhibitions of "Rading Earth Great Wall Photography Exhibition", and Ice and Snow Datong Winter Olympics. They have organized association members to conduct fieldwork and creation, held various photography training lectures, and cooperated with the Beijing Correspondence College of Photography of the Chinese Photographers Association, as well as the Shanxi Branch, and Shenzhen Branch to complete teaching activities held in Datong. At the same time, I also take advantage of my work to arrange, plan and organize photography exhibitions and employee photography exhibitions of enterprises and institutions every year in the previous Datong City Workers' Culture Expo we held. More than 20 photography association members were named "Worker Artist" in Datong City.
Among the activities I organized and planned in the past five years, the most impressive event and highly praised by me is "One Exhibition, One Competition, One Lecture, One Book".
One-Exhibition : We used more than two years to organize key members uninterruptedly and sank into Xujiayao Village, Zhangxihe Township, Tianzhen County for in-depth creation. In September 2017, we held the poverty alleviation photography exhibition "Happiness in Hometown" in Xujiayao Village. This is the first time in the history of Datong photography that was based on this village, created in this village, and exhibited in this village. 216 photography works were exhibited in the fields, fronts and backs of houses, and grass alleys of farmhouses. After that, all the exhibited works were given to the village and entered every household. It was very popular among local people and had a great response in society. More than 10 national media reported it and highly praised it by the ministries, commissions, departments and bureaus. Around the Spring Festival in 2018 and 2019, we organized members to carry out the "Our Chinese Dream, Culture Enters Ten Thousand Homes, Happy Grassroots Tour" and then returned to Xujiayao, which was pushed by the Central Propaganda Department and other platforms.
1 Competition : On the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the birth of photography in 2019, I used the event background of Datong International Fashion Tourism Week to invite 100 members of the presidium of photography associations at all levels across the country to conduct a 7-day field trip in Datong, and held a "Fashion Datong" photography competition. At the same time, during the field trip, two photography mentors Zhu Shaou and Zhang Aiwu were invited to give wonderful lectures to members of the Datong Photo Association.This event was created by 100 high-standard photographers organized by the municipal photography association. After winning the prize in the "Fashion Datong" photography competition, these photography works are still promoting Datong one after another and frequently winning awards in various photography competitions across the country.
One Lecture : In 2019, we invited Chen Xiaobo, vice chairman of the China Photographers Association and the editor of Xinhua News Agency , and jointly held the photography lecture "Cultural and History in Images" by Datong Photo Association and Datong "Citizen Lecture Hall". At the end of December, Datong was cold and the lecture venue was arranged in a Thousand-person auditorium of Datong University, which was very afraid of the cold. Through active organization and multi-channel publicity, not only did Datong Photo Association members sign up one after another, but also attracted members of the Photo Association in three provinces, including Xinzhou City, Shuozhou City, , Zhangjiakou City, Hebei City, Inner Mongolia Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Ulanqab City, and other photographers. On the day of the lecture, the auditorium was full, and even the aisle was full of enthusiasts, and the event was successful.

Under such circumstances, how can the Photo Association carry out its work? After careful consideration, I collected and sorted out member information, raised funds and organized the design of . In more than three months, I printed a thick membership list of Datong Photographers Association. This list consists of basic information, personal photos, artistic resumes and representative works of more than 300 members of the Datong Photo Association. It sorts out the development of the Datong Photo Association and the important activities and achievements held over the years. It can be said that it is another important practice of a domestic grassroots photo association.

6. Image Art Observation: Tell me about your understanding of photography and what kind of existence it exists in your life
Yang Rong: For me, the camera is a sketchbook, a tool to capture instant inspiration. Stage photography is about asking questions and making decisions about everything you see in an instant, and explaining to people what happened on this stage through viewfinder . It seems simple and direct, but it tests how to express fleeting ideas. You must be focused, trained and sensitive.
stood in the audience, aiming at the characters and backgrounds performing on the stage from different angles, and pressing the shutter... This is part of my work and all my persistent hobbies. Although you can't sit down the stage like the audience and quietly enjoy the performance on the stage, you can run around on and off the stage all year round to find the most suitable angles, light and shadow, and record the wonderful moments. After a long time, I suddenly realized: I am not a part of this stage. Life is a stage, and we are actors who shuttle through it, and each has his own role to play. The protagonist and the supporting role each complete the wonderful moment of their own. If you are on the stage, you can play a good role; if you don’t, why not sit quietly in the audience and give the applause to those characters who bring us touching and exciting things? Photography creation is my stage, and the Photographers Association is my stage. I like to press the shutter and bet on all my emotions in pictures full of dynamic, beautiful and rhythmic feelings. I like to organize and plan various photography activities, and I enjoy it. Every time after an event, I look at the happy smiling faces of the members, and encourage me to constantly think about how to organize the next event in a novel, creative and efficient manner.

7. Video art observation: What do you want to do in the future?
Yang Rong: As a grassroots photography work organizer, I am planning to use 5 years to complete the "four ones" based on my own work channel advantages.
Establish an association: 2014 All-China Federation of Trade Unions and Shanxi Federation of Trade Unions successively established the China Workers Photographers Association and the Shanxi Workers Photographers Association. At present, I have begun to prepare for the establishment of the Datong Workers Photographers Association.
Temper a team: actively carries out association activities to discover and train a team that can be able to start, fight and push, and can represent the backbone of Datong's photography level.
trains a group of film friends: adopts the method of "Invite experts from both inside and outside the province to pass on the scriptures and treasures, and take them out to participate in the exhibition and competitions" to actively participate in various training and competitions organized by the Provincial Photo Association and the Chinese Photo Association. Through the competition, talents are generated and a group of reserve forces are cultivated among the employee photography enthusiasts in Datong City.
Establish a brand: learns from the successful experience of photography associations in various cities and cities, and persists in holding a photography event with Datong characteristics and even Shanxi characteristics, and gradually form a brand.
I want to complete the "four ones" through 3 to 5 years of hard work and strive to make my own contribution to the photography industry.
