"In the past few years, due to the influence of upstream floods, cage farming and direct discharge of shore ships and drainage sewage, the water of the Youjiang River turned yellow and muddy. When it rained heavily, there would be scattered water hyacinth floating down. The fish caught had a strange smell. Later, after treatment, the water of the Youjiang River became clearer, and the pictures taken were very fresh and bright." He said proudly.

The Youjiang River in early autumn is sparkling and fish swims in the shallow bottom. "The water quality of Youjiang is getting better and better now, and the scenery is getting more and more beautiful. We are very relieved to go into the water to swim." At the Dongping Winter Swimming Park in Baise Youjiang District, many swimming friends swam in the water and praised the results of Youjiang water quality protection.
In recent years, Baise City has continuously increased the beautification and lighting of the landscape along the "Three Rivers" (Ejiang, Chengbi River , Youjiang), and the results have been revealed. In order to do a good job in the utilization and protection of Youjiang water resources, in 2017, Baise City issued a work plan for comprehensively implementing the river chief system ; in 2020, Baise City formulated and issued the "Baise City Youjiang Basin Water Environment Protection Regulations", which escorted the water quality of Youjiang with strict laws.

Baise Water Conservancy Project, located in the upper reaches of Baise City, is a landmark project, governance and development of Yujiang and a key project in the flood control of Zhujiang basin. The project started construction in October 2001 and was taken over and put into operation by Guangxi Youjiang Water Conservancy Development Co., Ltd. on April 20, 2006. On September 23, 2022, the Baise Water Conservancy Hub Project achieved continuous and safe operation for 6,000 days, and played a huge comprehensive benefit in flood control, power generation, irrigation, water supply, tourism, etc.

"Historically, cities and counties in the lower reaches of Youjiang River have suffered from floods and disasters for a long time." On September 27, relevant personnel from Guangxi Youjiang Water Conservancy Company told reporters from the Nanguo Morning Post that the completion of the Baise Water Conservancy Project has improved the flood control safety status along the Youjiang River. By blocking floods, cutting peaks and staggering peaks, the project basically eliminates flood disasters in the middle and lower reaches of the Youjiang River, including Baise, Tianyang , Tiandong , Long'an , etc.; jointly dispatched with Laokou Reservoir, combined with the embankment project, the flood control capacity of Nanning City can be increased from once in 50 years to once in 200 years.

In May this year, the Pearl River Basin encountered the strongest " Dragon Boat Water " in the past 15 years. The heavy rainstorm process was dense, the numbered floods were numerous, and the flood level was large. The reservoir area of Baise Water Conservancy Hub encountered 6 heavy rainfalls. Youjiang Water Conservancy Company opened four meter hole gates to release floods, opening the mid-hole gate for the first time in 16 years to increase flood discharge. During the successful response to the four numbered floods in the Xijiang River in cooperation with the Pearl River Basin, the Baise Water Conservancy Hub blocked and stored a total of 345 million cubic meters of flood water, with a peak cutting rate of 34%, greatly reducing the flood control pressure in the lower reaches of the Xijiang River.
Development shipping: The golden waterway, which directly connects the river and sea
, stretches through the Youjiang main line, which stretches for more than 700 kilometers, is one of the main tributaries of the Pearl River water system. It has always been an important link and cargo distribution center connecting the four provinces and regions of Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong. It was once a woven merchant ship and prosperous. In recent years, the construction of Youjiang Golden Waterway has been frequent, and the "golden waterway" has gradually produced "gold" benefits.

In December 2015, Najiku District launched a trial operation cruise inspection activity, marking the official opening of the 1,000-ton channel in Youjiang.
In 2017, the lock of the Nanning Laokou Shipping Hub was completed and opened for navigation. The Baise to Nanning channel was upgraded from the original Class VI standard to the Class III standard. 1,000-ton ships can directly connect to Guangzhou and Hong Kong from Baise to realize direct transportation of rivers and seas, forming the golden waterway of the southeast cargo line from Hainan.
In December 2020, the construction of the Youjiang Waterway Remediation Project started. The construction of this project is of great significance to improving the navigation conditions in the upper reaches of the Youjiang River, opening up the "last mile" waterway connecting Guangxi to Yunnan, and giving full play to the benefits of the Youjiang River's water transportation.
In June 2021, the Baise Water Conservancy Hub navigation facility project officially started, marking a historic breakthrough in the key projects connecting the water transport channels in Yunnan and Guangxi.
According to reports, with the accelerated construction of the Youjiang Golden Waterway, the Youjiang Waterway will be raised to the secondary channel standard. 1,000-ton ships will be able to go directly from Funing Port in Yunnan Province to the Pearl River Delta region through Guangxi, achieving full navigation of 1,000-ton ships (teams) and form the main channel for southwest water transportation to the sea with the Xijiang River.
