International Bird Photographer of the Year 2022 (BPOTY) Photography Competition has announced the current front-runners from its annual competition.

A contest with bird conservation in mind

The annual bird photography competition is now in its seventh year, with more than 20,000 entries from 115 different countries as of 2022. Entrants compete for a £5,000 ($6,030) cash prize and the prestigious title of 2022 Bird Photographer of the Year.

Photographers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to submit their best bird photos, which, if successful, will be reviewed by leading experts and potentially featured in a traveling exhibition.

The UK-based organization raises funds for various charities and trusts to support dialogue projects related to bird conservation.

"Birds are a very diverse group of animals, and this year we've seen a variety of stunning images of everything from mallards to harpy eagles," said Will Nicholls, wildlife photographer and director of Bird Photographer of the Year.

“We celebrate birds and conservation through images, and everyone on the judging panel was delighted to see the work of these talented photographers.”
