Born in October 1943 in St Albans, he worked as a teacher after graduating from university. In his routine activities to tell stories to his children every day, he discovered another of his talents - storytelling. In 1974, at the age of 30, he published his first children's book. He and his wife Claire, together with his wife Claire, founded the charity "City Children's Farm".
