Everyone has such a mentality that they like to be praised as "smart" but are unwilling to admit that they are "stupid".
In fact, there is not much difference in IQ between ordinary people. As the saying goes, "No one is stupider than anyone else." It's just that the philosophy of life is different.
In daily communication, there are some very "smart" people. They always appear to be more cunning and opportunistic than others. They are always scheming against others, thinking that others are stupider than them, so they can take advantage of them, as if they will live better than others by doing so.
People like this are too utilitarian and regard utilitarianism as the first priority in interpersonal relationships. Therefore, their lives are very tiring, tense, and lacking in fun.
In fact, truly smart people know that they should not reveal their intelligence too much. As the saying goes, "An eagle stands as if it is sleeping, and a tiger moves as if it is sick." In real life, using strategies such as "hiding skill rather than clumsiness and using obscurity to make things clear" and "hiding cleverness without revealing talent" to conceal one's actions can achieve the purpose of surprising victory.
Because such people are often as wise as foolish and as clever as clumsy.
They are simple and honest, approachable, open-minded, not sharp, even a little dull, a little slow, a little pedantic. They are unfazed by favors and humiliations, are not impatient in the face of chaos, see through but don't speak out, know the roots but don't reveal the truth; they hide their talents deeply, giving people a chaotic and ignorant look, but once the opportunity comes, they will win with one blow.
Lu Duan, courtesy name Yizhi, was born in the Northern Song Dynasty. Born in an official family, he was eager to learn and make progress since childhood, and eventually became a great person. He once served as the Registrar of the Imperial Academy, the Prime Minister of Taipu Temple, and Secretary Lang. Lu Duan was generous, loyal and forgiving, good at making friends, loyal, careless about money, and good at giving.
Especially after he became prime minister, he was prudent, fair and honest in his work, and was highly praised by all parties inside and outside the country.
Fame and wealth are things that everyone in the world strives for, and they are also the easiest things to care about, but Lu Duan showed an indifferent attitude. It is precisely because of his indifference to these issues that people usually pay attention to, such as the level of official position and the amount of money, that he left behind the "confused" statement.
In 995 AD, Lu Duan was promoted to prime minister by Song Taizong . Lu Duan did not think that this position, which was below one person and above ten thousand people, was that great. What he thought about was how to mobilize the enthusiasm of all his officials, and he did not hesitate to delegate power and give up his position.
At that time, there was another famous minister Kou Zhun who had the same reputation as him. He was capable and talented, but had a somewhat strong temper.
Lu Duan was worried that Kou Zhun would be unbalanced after he became the prime minister. If he lost his temper, the government would be affected, so he asked Taizong to issue another order.
This kind of initiative to give up power is naturally a "confused" move in the eyes of the world.
One year, Li Weiqing, the minister of the Central Government, was replaced by Taizong from the position of Privy Councilor in charge of the national military and became the censor Zhongcheng who was responsible for supervising all officials. Although it was a smooth transition, the actual power had changed. He believed that Lu Duan was causing trouble in the middle. Therefore, Li Weiqing took advantage of Lu Duan's illness to rest at home and had no chance to go to court, so he made a bad accusation against Lu Duan.
After the incident reached Lu Duan's ears, Lu Duan didn't take it seriously. He neither confessed to the emperor nor went to Li Wei to settle accounts. Instead, he said lightly: "I have behaved upright and sat upright all my life. I have never done anything wrong to others, so why should I be afraid of gossip?" This calm mentality of not arguing with others is also considered "confused" by others.
Lu Duan's "confusion" also lies in his layout industry. Not only was he a very honest official, he had never been involved in corruption or bribery, but he also often gave some of his well-earned salary to take care of others. So after Lu Duan passed away, his two sons had no money to get married because of difficulties in life, so they had to mortgage their properties to others.
Emperor Zhenzong was very moved when he learned about this. He spent 5 million yuan from the palace's expenses to redeem the property. In addition, he also rewarded a lot of gold, silver and silk to pay off the old debts of the Lu family. With the dignity of prime minister, the descendants are so poor, how "confused" they are in the eyes of ordinary people.
In the face of such facts, many people mistakenly thought that Lu Duan was a confused person. However, Song Taizong believed that these were all trivial matters, and Lu Duan was just "confused about trivial matters." Lu Duan was never confused when encountering big events.
During the Song Dynasty, wars were raging all over the world, and there was no internal unity. Xixia Li Jiqian rebelled, causing unrest on the western border, and Song sent troops to attack Xia. Song Baoanjun captured Li Jiqian's mother, and Song Taizong originally wanted to kill her.
For this reason, Song Taizong summoned Kou Zhun alone and asked him what his opinion was. At that time, Kou Zhun had no objections and presented it to him. When Kou Zhun was retreating from the court, he was seen by Lu Duan. Lu Duan guessed that there must be something major planned in the DPRK.
asked Kou Zhun to stay and ask what happened. Lu Duan asked Kou Zhun: "Did Taizong mention that he wanted to discuss things with me, Lu Duan?" Kou Zhun said, "No!" Lu Duan thought to himself: "You don't need to let me know about ordinary things at the border. If there are major military affairs or major strategies to discuss, I, Lu Duan, am the prime minister of the dynasty. "
After hearing what Lu Duan said, Kou Zhun felt that this matter was indeed important, so he truthfully told Lu Duan that Taizong had summoned him just now to deal with Li Jiqian's mother.
Lu Duan asked Kou Zhun: "How does the Holy One plan to deal with it?" Kou Zhun replied: "The Holy One means to behead her outside the north gate of the Security Army in public, and intends to use this method of disposal to deter those who rebel or rebel." When Lu Duan heard this, he hurriedly said: "If it is dealt with like this, it is not a good idea."
So Lu Duan went to court in person and proposed not to kill Li Jiqian's mother. In order to persuade Taizong, he also used the story of Qin and Han Xiang Yu who wanted to kill the father of the state. He said: "Li Jiqian is a rebellious person. If he kills his mother today, will he be able to catch Li Jiqian tomorrow?
If not, wouldn't he have forged a greater hatred and strengthened his resistance? After hearing what Lu Rui said, Taizong felt that it made sense and asked, "What should I do with Li Jiqian's mother?"
When Lu Duan saw this, he expressed his thoughts and said to Taizong: "It's not what I thought of." As a wise idea, please ask your Majesty to think about whether to put her in Yanzhou, , and send someone to take good care of her, so as to induce Li Jiqian to change his mind and stop rebelling.
In this case, although it is impossible for Li Jiqian to surrender to the Song Dynasty immediately, we can finally tie his heart with his mother in the Song Dynasty. As for the power of his mother's life and death, isn't it still in our hands? "
Taizong heard Lu Duan's far-sighted thoughts and thought to himself: Lu Duan is really smart. There are so many ministers in my court, but no one has ever put forward such a wise opinion as Lu Duan, which almost missed my major event.
Therefore, they adopted Lu Duan's advice and placed Li Jiqian's mother in Yanzhou and sent someone to serve her until she died of illness in Yanzhou.
Later Li Jiqian also died. Li Jiqian's son Deming surrendered to the Song Dynasty because of the affection Song Dynasty had towards his grandmother. The Song Dynasty treated him well and allowed him to serve as the minister of the Song Dynasty and the minister of the Ministry of War, and finally returned Xia to the Song Dynasty.
Lu Duan’s story tells us how important it is to know how to act stupid in life. It even affects a person’s destiny and happiness.
In short, most of the truly smart people do not expose their talents. They are introverted and good at power, focus on the long term, seek big profits, and do not compete for the immediate priority. They are good at controlling and adjusting themselves, have a far-sighted vision, and have strong self-confidence. They are capable and have charisma. They have a strong sense of teamwork, generally good interpersonal relationships, and of course their character is not bad.
To deal with the world in life, you need to be rare and confused, to be able to see the strengths of others and not be limited by their weaknesses; to be able to take an overall view of things, not to abandon the fundamentals; to be able to adhere to principles in major matters, distinguish right from wrong, take the overall situation into consideration, suppress evil and do good; in small matters, do not care too much, do not make a fuss, be tolerant and generous, and let nature take its course. This is not only a strategy, but also a kind of character and wisdom in life.
