Half-city green trees and half-city shade, half-city flowers and trees and half-city fruits. Located at the intersection of Zuojiang and Youjiang River, it has a warm climate, beautiful mountains and rivers, and a variety of scenery and a leisurely charm. Every summer and autumn, various flowers and fruits give the city a rich and sweet atmosphere.
From my childhood memory, the streets and alleys of old Nanning City are staggering, and the most flawed thing is fruit trees. The most are banana , guava , water grape , lychee, longan , mango, almond , and jackfruit tree. In the courtyard where I live, there are many loquat trees and guava trees in front and behind the house. Every summer, the sun shines brightly and the summer wind is warm, the cicadas sound, and heavy fruits hang on the branches.
Guava trees are the most appealing for birds. Whenever it comes to fruit harvest, groups of sparrows are chirping and jumping on the tree to peck at the fruit. The guava that sparrows peck at will leave uneven scars, commonly known as sparrow scars. The guava that sparrows pecked at is ripe quickly and has a special fragrance. The more scars the sparrows, the more fragrant it smells, and the sweeter it tastes. When I was a child, I often followed my brothers and sisters and other children, picking the guava that fell down under the trees, picking the guava covered with sparrow scars, and taking it home to wash it clean and sit on a small stool and eat happily.
When I was in elementary school, the West Hua Road and East Hua Road were ten miles long, and the mango tree along both sides of the street. The trees were older than me. In midsummer, I walked under the trees every day at school. The clear fragrance of flowers and rich fruits all over the street made us children carrying small schoolbags often stop, stretched their necks, and stopped and looked up. Naughty children sometimes jump with bamboo poles to hook their feet, and some simply take off their shoes and climb up to the tree to pick them.
The one who remembers the most is jackfruit. Jackfruit is like a pineapple, but it is several times larger than pineapple, and is oval like winter melon. It is also called wood pineapple in Nanning. When I was a child, every summer, my father would buy a wooden pineapple. My mother used a spoon to dig out the meat of the wooden pineapple for me and put it in a small enamel bowl for me. A family of seven people were sitting around the table, smelling the rich fragrance that filled the whole house, which made people intoxicated... My feeling of home stayed in this warm atmosphere and never forgotten it for many years.
In the 1970s, my second sister went to Yunnan. When I was young, I held a pen and deviatedly described the guava tree in front of my second sister in the letters of my house, which had a lot of fruits. My second sister replied that she cried after reading the letter. Since then, she asked me to send her a few leaves from the fruit tree in front of her house from time to time. I just sent my second sister a few fruit leaves of different seasons from time to time until she had her own home in Yunnan.
After growing up, as Nanning City continues to be renovated and expanded, the city’s territory continues to expand, and the flowers and fruits in Nanning City are becoming less and less. My attachment to flowers and fruits made me regard planting trees as my greatest happiness. I remember that when junior high school participated in the school building work, we picked earth, transported garbage, built stadiums, and planted saplings. In front of the teaching building, we planted many mango trees and almond trees . Watching the fruit trees grow taller and taller day by day, and when we bloom and bear fruit, the flowers and fruits even poked their heads into the classroom window. During my more than ten years of college and working, my main social work was to participate in tree planting labor organized by the school or unit. I can't remember how many times I followed everyone to roll up their sleeves and pants, carry iron hoes, pack them up in pieces, pick up soil, fertilize and water them, and plant saplings on the streets and alleys, on both sides of the Yongjiang River, on the courtyards of schools and units, and in the wilderness. Every time I finish my work, I pull up my sleeves to wipe my sweat, hold my shovel and look into the distance, and I always find joyfully that the woods are undulating, like green mist and veils that continue to extend, embracing the ever-expanding Nanning City bit by bit.
Entering the 21st century, the "regular army" of tree planting has long replaced the "national tree planting team" of that year. Nanning pays great attention to greening in its development and is called " Greentown ".Now, looking around, a river runs through the city, surrounded by green trees and clusters of flowers. In addition to flowers and trees, there are fruit trees in each street. The flowers and fruit trees in every street have become beautiful scenery of the city. The rich fragrance of flowers and fruits comes from the wind, refreshing the heart. Rows of flowers and fruit trees are like lines of fragrant poetry. When you are in Nanning City, you are in the world of flowers and fruits, and your mood is filled with warm pulses along with flowers and fruits. Nanning City is carrying the long history of human and nature with its local characteristic flower and fruit plants, and writing a chapter of harmonious coexistence between man and nature with its rich in ink and color. Walking on the street, the summer sun shone golden light through the gaps between the forests. From time to time, passers-by were amazed. A golden mango or almond on the tree fell like a treasure from the sky. Looking at the falling fruits, the sidewalk was covered with the fragrance of the wind.
A few years ago, I went to study outside the district. When I was walking in my spare time, I saw the jujube tree on the roadside. I suddenly remembered the fruit trees in my hometown of Nanning, and the mangoes, almonds, lychees, longans, and wooden pineapples in Nanning, which suddenly aroused my infinite nostalgia. I felt like I had returned to my childhood dream. I saw the family sitting around the table and snuggling together to taste the moment of the wooden pineapple. I immediately realized the homesickness of my second sister asking me to send the leaves of the fruit tree in the letter. Only then did I realize that Nanning has gathered so many memories, emotions, joy and sorrow. Every flower, grass, branch and leaf has long been deeply embedded in my heart and integrated into my bloodline.
