We live in the real world, and there is no doubt that this is because we can feel the existence of the objective real world every day. A building, a car, people walking on the spacious streets...

or above are real things, and these things exist independently of us humans. Even if humans are gone, things still exist.

But this view is being challenged, and what we think of as objective reality is not true at all.

The objective things we see, hear, and touch every day are actually just various signals provided to the brain by our sensory system. These signals are restricted by physical phenomena and cannot be predicted. In this way, the objective reality begins to collapse, the objective we think begins to become subjective, and everyone's perception of reality begins to become different.

For example, most of the real world we see is felt through our eyes, and human eyes are very good at observing the world. But that's not the case.

Our eyes can only see very small areas. Straighten your arms forward and the area you see is just the width of your thumb. At the same time, the optic nerve will transmit the collected signals to the brain, but there are blind spots at the connection between the eyes and the brain nerves, which does not mean that we will see a very blurry world.

Thanks to our brains, which can fill the gaps and transform the signals transmitted by the eyes into three-dimensional world models, and then we feel the reality.

But is this reality really "reality"? Does the independent real world really exist?

Many science fiction movies have such storylines. Humans and the real world they are in are just scenes carefully simulated by advanced intelligent civilizations. All our perceptions are just electrical signals simulated by a supercomputer. The "reality" we feel every day, including your and my bodies, actually does not exist. Everything is just a carefully arranged virtual scene.

This view sounds a bit incredible, and is called "simulation theory" and is very similar to "brain in the tank". The simulations performed by the supercomputer are so perfect that we simply cannot find the possible imperfections.

If this is true, you may not be able to accept it at the moment: How could the real world be simulated?

is actually true or not. Descartes said: I think so I am there. Even if we really live in a simulation world, the bread we eat every day and the milk we drink is just a piece of code, so what?

The key is that we think it’s okay to be real, but in a virtual world that is almost perfect, it is meaningless to doubt the authenticity of reality. The easiest way is to directly accept the authenticity of the virtual world!
