颱風基本知識

颱風也叫熱帶氣旋 Tropical Cyclone，是發生在熱帶海洋上的一種具有暖心結構的逆時針強烈旋轉的渦旋。

等級(由低到高)：縮寫和全稱

TC 熱帶氣旋 tropical cyclone

TD 熱帶低壓 tropical depression

TS 熱帶風暴 tropical storm

STS 強熱帶風暴 severe tropical storm

TY 颱風 typhoon

STY 強颱風 severe typhoon

Super TY 超強颱風 super typhoon

不同海區熱帶氣旋的不同名稱

發生在西北太平洋和南海海域的稱之為颱風 typhoon

發生在北大西洋、加勒比海、墨西哥灣、東北太平洋東部和東經160度以東的南太平洋等海域的稱之為颶風 hurricane

發生在北印度洋、孟加拉灣、阿拉伯海等海域的稱之為氣旋風暴 cyclonic storm

發生在東經160度以西的南太平洋和東經90度以東的東南印度洋等海域的則稱之為強熱帶氣旋 severe tropical cyclone

發生在西南印度洋的則稱之為熱帶氣旋 tropical cyclone

颱風眼

颱風眼的英文是 eye of the typhoon / storm，也可以說typhoon eye。颱風眼是環流中氣壓最低的地方，其形狀大多為圓形、橢圓形、卵形、開口眼和多邊形等五種，形狀愈完整、愈清晰，代表強度愈強。颱風的位置以颱風眼為準，在這個區域里通常無風無雨，但在颱風眼邊緣卻是風速最強的地方。
