又到了每年的寫作季，有一項競賽是以 “自由主義之父” 的名字來命名的，它就是約翰·洛克論文競賽（John Locke Essay Competition）。這是一項很多准留學生們在申請過程中的都會選擇的競賽，一方面是因為它由牛津大學的獨立教育組織發起，並聯合普林斯頓和布朗等世界名校共同組織，被譽為 “文科競賽天花板”、“爬藤利器”，含金量可謂是相當高了。另一方面是學科範圍廣泛，並沒有隻限制在某一學科上，對低齡學生也非常友好。
【適合人群】
- 18歲以下的學生，分為低年級組和高年級組，不限國籍和地域都可參加
- 低年級組：提交論文時為14周歲或以下
- 高年級組：提交論文時為18周歲或以下

去年「特優生學院」設置了比賽的 Guideline & Reading Recommendation，主要是發現許多學生無法拆分問題。像剛剛我們分析了很多問題，其實是先把問題相關的 key words 關鍵詞和相關的名詞先摘了出來。

約翰洛克競賽的題目一般都是思辨題（除了心理更像理科的考試題），絕對不是單一的 yes or no 問題，基本都需要從多角度進行分析。這裡其實閱讀量和閱歷也非常重要，不然連問題的相關信息都拆不出來。
還有一點需要對大家強調的是：不要拖到DDL再提交！！因為在競賽中有一個「Late entries」規則，導致很多同學在答題的過程中發現還有 Late entries 的空間， 因此可能會放緩答題腳步。雖然理解同學們這樣做的原因是為了寫出更好的內容，但是我們仍然建議大家要按時完成，因為上了大學以後是沒有 Late entries 機會的，養成良好習慣這一點非常重要。
