“退燒”比較專業的一個詞是動詞defervesce /ˌdefə'ves/，它的意思就是退熱，也可用它的形容詞defervescing表示“退熱的”。
比如，醫生在交流病情時的會說：

B: He's defervescing. Lytes, chest x ray, urinalysis were all normal.B: 他退燒了。電解質、胸部X光片、尿檢結果都正常。
也有很多口語中比較簡單的搭配可以表達“退燒”，比如： reduce a fever lower a fever The fever goes/comes down. break a fever The fever is gone. The heat is coming off.
而且，“退燒”可以理解為“體溫降下來”，所以用英語可以說：The temperature comes down.
